NaNo Fail/NaPo Fail (And Introducing... Power of Paper!)

and no, i didn't do it just to use that gif. have some faith in me.

BUT IT'S OKAY because I went on this huge trip that you will probably be seeing some pictures of someday soon here.

I am happy with what I did write this month, though, so that's good. :) I also read some REALLY good books that you will probably get reviews of.

Well, signing off for no-

what do you mean "look back up at your title"? I know exactly what my title is and I never forget anyth-

Oooooh yeah, that introduction.

Haha, I remembered that, I was keeping you guys on your toes.

ANYWAYS.... hehe...

What is this Power of Paper? It is, as the image says, a collab blog by me and Shuffle. It's all about writing and believing in yourself and fandoms. Basically, it's about all that good stuff in the world.

I encourage you all to go over and check it out- to kick off the month of May, we'll be doing Meeting Characters May, which you'll hear more about later.

May the Force be with you.
i am so funny lol

Are you excited about Power of Paper? Do you forgive me for failing and not being very remorseful about it? Do you love the Taylor Swift gif?

NaPoWriMo: 13/14/15

I'm super behind!
fear the muppets, my pretties. *witch cackle*

I am basically feeling like a failure, but I have a muppet gif so I'm failing in style.

broken yet beautiful,

so full of dark
a world made of water

but little has been done,
why is everyone on the run?

Shakespearean Star Wars? {A Book Review}

/Goodreads/ /Amazon/

Summary {From Goodreads}

Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas's epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare's greatest plays. 'Tis a tale told by fretful Droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearsome Stormtroopers, signifying... pretty much everything.

Reimagined in glorious iambic pentameter, William Shakespeare's Star Wars will astound and edify Rebels and Imperials alike. Zounds! This is the book you're looking for.

This absolutely is the book I was looking for.

When I found out that this book existed, my reaction was something like this:

Image result for surprised gif harry potter

When I found out that my library had it, I looked just like this:

Image result for fangirl squealing gif

Throughout reading it, I was simultaneously laughing, crying, laughing because I was crying, and hugging the book to my chest. The illustrations were 100% wonderful, the quotes were 100% beautiful, and this book gets all the stars.

I also convinced my mom to read some of it, and she was just laughing so. so. hard.

This book is like dark chocolate for the soul as in good for the heart.  As in, also delicious. As in, also caffeinated so I was up all night.

All the reasons to love this book
  • Star Wars
  • Shakespeare
  • Lots of 'verily' and 'aye, true'
  • Illustrations of Star Wars Characters in Shakespearean garb
If that's not enough to make you go buy it now... then I don't know what is.

Basically, guys, my words are gone and I don't know what to say at this point. Therefore, I will just order you all to buy it now. Right now.  Words do NOT do it justice, and you must all read it now.

Happy Easter, everybody! As you munch on jellybeans and wear pretty pastel colors, remember that Christ died the worst death imaginable for us. He loves us.

We sang the song below in my church today. I think it really captures the meaning of Easter.

Have a great day!

Mystery on the Train Book Review

Ten-year-old Scarlet Paddleburrow is off to a prestigious boarding school in New York. But first, she has to travel there - by train. Along the way, she meets a new friend - Kat Davids, who is also going to the same school. The two girls become fast friends, and spend most of the day together.

When mysterious and frightening things start happening, a chain of events throws Scarlet and Kat smack in the middle of the a mystery.
Who is sabotaging the train and trying to scare the passengers? And why? It’s up to Scarlet - with the help of her new friend - to find out.
The Mystery on the Train is the first book in The Scarlet Paddleburrow Mystery Series, for girls ages 8-12.

Lydia Dyslin is a Christian, homeschooled author living in the state of New Hampshire. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, sewing, playing the piano, or spending time with friends. She lives with her parents, her sister Jo, and her two cats, Twilight and Twinkle.
You can read more about her at her blog:

Lydia is one of those bloggers I stalked for FOREVER back when this blog was just a baby, so when she announced that she was publishing her book, I just HAD to sign up for a book review!

This book is really cute! It's for ages 8-12, so of course it was a bit young for me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The characters were sweet, and the mystery was done pretty well. The writing was good and the author clearly has a good grasp on grammar. (As a Grammar Nazi, you can trust me)

It's very short (I read it in fifteen minutes) which is perfect for the intended age range. It is perfectly clean, which is what we should see more of in the world. :)

Basically: go read this book! The amazon and goodreads links are up at the top of the page

NaPoWriMo: 10/11/12 (Plus: NaNo Updates)

Hello, everyone! I have two more late poems today... fashionably late.

1 (one) little bird on a (1 (one)) wire
1 (one) big sky to cover the (singular) world
1 (one) world in a (1 (one)) universe.
1 (one) person (singular) looking at the (singular) sky.

...The best I can personally give that one is, it's unique.

close enough to touch it,
the current of electricity,
reaching through the dark of night,
a single spark creates a blaze,
neon in the midnight black.
hearts beating faster
cars, headlights,
streams in the dark,
roads, highways,
leading forever onward,
burning out so fast

Tell Me

I need to hear that whisper,
preceded by the telling glance,
telling me the flowers will fade,
but the sun itself shall not.

I need to know that the petals may fall,
the earth may shake, people may leave,
but the moon will always touch me, giving me silvery wings of night.

I need to know that in the dark
a light will always shine,
and others may reflect it,
for time may fail and friends may leave,

but tell me the morning star will stay,
the dew upon my cheeks.

Tell me I can stay this way,
a child playing in the summer sun,

the past behind me, the universe ahead,
living fully, everthing clear,

safe for now, frozen in time.

{tell me I will be safe... I know now that I can be safe}

and that one was just plain weird?

So.... NaPo is going pretty well, eh? Let's talk about how I'm succeeding instead of how I'm epically failing.

Hehe...what? Why are you looking at me that way?

I AM FAILING. See, I said it. What I didn't say is that.... there's a bright side somewhere.

the bright side is I read a lot of stuff this month instead of writing a lot of stuff

Image result for harry potter priorities gif
gee, thanks, ron. do you work for ackbar industries now? proclaiming the obvious since 1983.

I'll be okay.

I mean, I guess to write I have to read... in some weird way, doesn't that logic work? ask the vulcans, they'll know

I will write, though, because I will  tame these dragons. These dragons will JOIN my army or face marshmallows.

How's the month going for all of you? Which of my three weird poems did you prefer?

NaPoWriMo: 8/9

Sorry that these are late! Neither owns a title, sadly. You can call them whatever you wish- "hey, you' would suffice.

people, smaller than the eye can see,
rushing as ants, faster, stronger,
working as the sun and moon pass by,
on a gradually turning earth

Swinging skirt,
toes pointed,
music plays, delicate and twinkling,
as lights cast shadows on velvet.

NaPoWriMo: 7

Lemons growing on a tree.
A star, blindingly bright, teaching us to believe.
Fire, burning in the horizon.
Earth, growing, green.
Mist rising, uncovering secrets.

Ashes, smoldering, a testimony to the flames.
The light, flashing, revealing secrets.
Grass, growing on a hillside, green and fresh.
A branch, waving in the wind.

Hi! I am Astrid Jane Lemons, but for short, you can call me Lemons. I am one of Daisy and Shuffle's BFFs. I live in a coconut shell under the shade of a big oak tree, and I have a doggie named Zuni. My favorite authors are J.K. Rowling and James Patterson. I hate negativity and fluffy cats that I want to pet but make me sneeze. {I'm sadly allergic.} I love to cook, sing, and act. I don't have a blog, but I like messing with Daisy's. I am usually an extrovert, but from time to time I like to just sit with my dog, a good book, a cup of earl gray, and be left alone. MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR.

                                                         --A. J. Lemons.

Hey there! If you just read that above, then you're probably le confused.

In fact, you might be saying "But.... A.J.? WHY DID YOU ATTACK DAISY'S BLOG?! IS DAISY OKAY?! DO WE NEED TO FREE HER?"

The answers to those four questions are:
...Is she ever okay?

Yes, my friend Lemons (who does show up occasionally) has decided to grace all of you with her presence! Let us give her a round of applause! Lemon just did a circular motion with her arms- I think she was clapping?

And in case you were wondering, then yes, we are both really. really. weird.

But it's okay because...

*whispers* Lemons... why it is okay?

She says we're normal and the normal people are weird.

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading weird friend stuff, and also the poem up there... It's late here, and we should totally head to the coconut shell. But... we probably won't.... because im batgirl and shes wonder woman and crime never sleeps

NaPoWriMo: 6

The end of a night,
beginning of day.
Beginning of light,
light that cannot stay.
Inky black growing lighter, gradually,
becoming a watercolor of orange and pink.

Tomorrow is Friday! You guys got anything good planned for the weekend?

Night to Morning

She caught a thousand stars, and held them in her pocket.
He handed her the moon, which he had reached without a rocket.
She reached to touch the galaxies, spiraling around.
He held her close, by the toes, keeping her near the ground.
She blinked with such amazement, as she saw the coming day.
He touched the morning dew, as the night fell away.

Thoughts? How's your month going?

NaPoWriMo: 4

A whisper creeping over,
a whiteness sent to cover
Crystallizing, hard as steel,
sent so that the grass might feel
safer, while the world's asleep.
Safety that is theirs to keep.

...Not my best, but I'm exhausted. I had a very interesting day today. :)

Forgive Me, Everyone // Good Thing I Have Those Excuses

One and all, I am afraid I have decided to live dangerously....

You know how at EVERY WriMo I change my story?

Image result for merida headdesk
(it's like i can't stick to anything, guys. anything.)

Well... I'm going back to Dragoncologist at last. Fankids will still be there, waiting, but for now, I feel like a need to finish Dragoncologist. I really don't have any good reason. I do, however, have yesterday's list of excuses, so pick one of those and call that my excuse.

I feel kind of bad about this, but I had to remind myself that if I'm not at all enjoying my writing, and I mean not at all, the writing itself will be better if I write what I feel like I should.

Punish me if you must, o readers and writers, but I have made my decision; I have done what I must.

Will I survive? Am I being overly dramatic? Do any of you even care what I write or not?
These indeed are important questions, and I shalt ponder them over a cup of tea.

NaPoWriMo: Three

calmly, quietly,
silver, stone,
seeping starlight
sweetly, silently,
 reflecting firelight
broken bits
not so shattered anymore
silent, sharp,
shivery thoughts
strewn upon the forest floor
sense the shadows where they lay
swiftly, swooping,
without delay
whisper silently, shivery too
stars in shadow,
seeping, sweetly,
whispers to you.
cold mornings,
birds sing
slipping, tripping,
healing, severing
sounds the forest sings to us
never silent
never enough
whispers in cool morning dew
I can hear it
singing my name softly
I can hear it
the whispers, that is.
Can you?
What do you think of this one? I struggled with it a little. What can I do to improve?

Pocket-Sized Dragons // The Best Excuses

If you're anything like me, you often are asked why you have/have not done something.

And if you're a lot like me, you end up shrugging, without a decent excuse to offer up.

Well, never fear! Ladies and gentlemen, earthlings and extraterrestrials, I have compiled a list of the best and only the best excuses ever!

randomness ahead. read at own risk.

  • Because, I'm planning to take over the world.

This one works wonders! Unless, of course, you are planning to take over the world, in which case, you have told your secret and are now thrown out of the Evil Plotter League. Use at own risk.

  • Pocket-sized dragons have invaded my life and I now must devote all of my time to taking care of them.

Great for the following:
"Why are you procrastinating?"
"Why are you hermiting?"
dragons not included. optional dragon add-on pack, just $19.99!
  • Because I said so.

A parental classic, 'Because I said so' can be used in almost any situation! Known as the queen of all excuses, this will never go out of style!

  • Because.

The kid sister's reply, 'because' is a simple and inexpensive excuse that will annoy your questioner so much, they'll simply leave you alone for all of eternity.

  • It is the alpacalypse.

Perfectly useless and ridiculous, this one will either make your questioner extremely confused, make them laugh, or simply make them roll their eyes and continue questioning you.

  • It's a trap!

An Ackbar Studios original, this excuse is perfect for the times people ask you why you don't want to go somewhere or do something.

  • I have a great excuse, but your insignificant human brain cannot comprehend it.

The best excuse of all! Leave your questioner wondering whether or not you are human with this wonderful response.

Best of all, ladies and gentlemen, we are giving you free use of these comebacks in your everyday life! That's right, absolutely free! not including shipping and handling. all sales are final.

Thank you for reading! Enjoy using your excuses, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Will you use any of these? Which is your favorite?

Sometimes I Question

Sometimes I question my own self,
it's like I distrust her.
But what she says,
is it true?
Sometimes I question my own self,
for what do I know?
Sometimes I question my own self,
how does everyone else not?
Sometimes I question my own self,
do I know that they do not?
Sometimes I question my own self,
for really, does it matter?

Hello, everyone! How's it going? NaNo? NaPo? Do you ever question your own self?
I rewarded myself yesterday for writing by watching Fantastic Beasts again... *happy sigh* I want a case of magical animals.

But then, who doesn't?

NaPoWriMo: 1

The ink touches the page,
scritch, scratch
The artist sets the stage,
scritch, scratch
A white expanse now painted with black,
scritch, scratch
The author knows there's no going back,
scritch, scratch
Every comma, every letter,
scritch, scratch
The artist knows he can do better,
scritch, scratch
Worlds of paper, paper and ink
scritch, scratch
Paper people, paper things.

What did you guys think? Look at all the commas! Do any of you like the way commas look?

And So It Begins

CampNaNo is beginning, my dear friends.

Image result for and so it begins gifs
We probably don't look as dramatic as these guys.

What have we gotten ourselves into? One of the busiest months of the year, and we all decide to write novels.

I've been looking at my mom's calendar, where she writes down what we're going to do for the month. Each time I remember that I'm doing NaPo and NaNo,  I think:
Could be worse. Could be 100%.

I mostly think of that, because Rogue One is beautiful and I may be slightly obsessed with K2.

I've decided that this month I'll just reward myself by renting Fantastic Beasts and Rogue One to watch again. You guys going to be watching them? I hope you are because I want to meet my fellow fankids!

(Can I have a Niffler please? Pretty please? Please? I want one so badly.)

Alright, now I have to go write and also restock my caffeine/chocolate supply.

Are ya'll doing the write-in today? Are any of ya'll on MyWriteClub? If so, we should totally follow each other this month! Have you guys made sure your chocolate supplies are ready for the battle ahead?

May the Force be with you, and live long and prosper!
