Christmas in the South

"I'm dreamin' of a whitttteeeee Christmaaaa-" Sophia started to sing, only to be silenced by a glare from Harriett.

"Sophia, let's be real here," Molly sighed. " We live in the South. The only white we get for Christmas is the sunscreen smudges on our faces."

"I got a more fitting song to sing. They're singin' Deck the Ha-alls, but it's not like Christmas at aa-" Rivers was cut off by Harriett.

"Then one of the next lines goes,Oh the snow's comin' down. So, maybe not quite as fitting as we thought."
Rivers shook her head. "Maybe not."

"Lucie's back with her relatives in Canada. She actually gets to wear sweaters," Harriett sighed, thinking of all the fashionable things she couldn't wear.

"That must be nice," Naomi said sadly.
"It's like 75 degrees out here," added Isabelle.

 Molly put down her lemonade.
"I'm tired of moping! Let's have some holiday cheer! If I may quote Buddy the Elf, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"

JG smiled. "I'll have a bluueeeee Christma-"
"No, JG! I was thinking more like..... Hmmm..." Molly said, thoughtfully. "I got it.We'll make one up!"

She got down out of the hammock, and stood up on a rock.

"Forget mistletoe, we got tomatoes, fresh off the vine."

Laughing, JG joined in, her more powerful voice joining Molly's quiet. "Instead of snow we got leaves, instead of cocoa we got iced tea."

The others joined in cautiously. "Instead of bundling up, put the sweaters up, we're wearin' shorts again."

"Let's go see the Christmas lights, shining bright on Friday night!"

"Instead of reindeer, listen here, we got Bambi in our yard...."

"Hear the rooster crow, instead of snow gently fallin' around,"

"So Merry Christmas. everyone, city, country, town; Merry Christmas, everyone, everyone all around!"

They finished, with jazz hands, Molly dumping her lemonade all over the ground, you know, normal stuff. Then they stared at each other.

"That was... fun," Harriett said, "But it still isn't snow."

"Leaves, anybody?" Molly said hopefully. They all rolled their eyes and walked away. "Whatever," Molly said happily. "More for me."

"I'm making leaf angels! A leaf-man! Leaf-ball fight, anyone?"

I apologize for my lack of Christmas posts! I've had a cold and the dolls have been feeling out of sorts due to the un-winter-ey weather. Except for Molly, of course, who's making leaf-men in the yard. Leaf-and-mud men.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! Where on earth did December go?

I've decided to leave the Blogscars up for three more days, due to the fact that we only got 8 responses. Hopefully we'll get more nominations soon!

  1. Yes, yes, yes! That's TOTALLY perfect for Southern damsels in distress over not having snow to take pictures in! :D It's not QUITE that hot here, but it's hot enough to be wearing short sleeves. And shorts. And skirts without leggings. And flip flops instead of boots. :D It still looks just like fall in the South! :D I nominated! Leaf men... wow, Molly, wow. :)

  3. We're in Canada. We have some snow but not a whole lot. We did have a cold spell a while back where it was -40C for a week and a half. Not much snow though. We get most of our heavy snowfall in January/February. I LOVED the doll's unwintery Christmas song!! Too cute!
